ID cards formally added to 'statutory excuse list'

The Immigration (Restriction of Employment) Order 2007 has been amended to add ID cards to the list of documents that can be accepted by an employer as evidence of the right to work in the UK. The government has also announced that the current restrictions on the numbers of Bulgarian and Romanian workers permitted to enter the UK to work will continue until the end of 2011 but could then be extended for a further two years.
