As part of its pay and works right campaign the government has published a
leaflet outlining the laws that regulate the conduct of employment agencies.
At the same time a
response has been issued to the consultation earlier this year on a package of amendments to the Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003:
- Upfront fees charged by modelling and entertainment agencies will be banned.
- Employment agencies to no longer have to check the background of new recruits they introduce to an employer – this responsibility should rest with the new employer unless the employee is to be working with those aged under 18 or the vulnerable.
