The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has written to Lord Mandelson, the business secretary, asking for "a period of stability to allow recent changes to 'bed in' and give employers the time to concentrate on running their businesses".
Despite the Department for Business & Innovation’s (BIS) assertions that the pace of change would slow, there are many employment law related legislative changes due to take effect between 2010-2012, although of course any change of administration could alter these plans:
- The Equality Bill.
- The right to time off to train.
- Fit notes.
- Amendments to immigration rules.
- A review of the default retirement age.
- Auto-enrolment.
- The agency workers’ directive.
- Additional paternity leave and pay.
