National Minimum Wage Regulations 2003 01 October 2003 Increase in hourly rates
Regulations banning hand-held mobiles while driving.

 

01 December 2003

Driving while using a hand-held mobile phone will be a specific offence from 1 December 2003 .

Offenders will be subject to a £30 fine, which can be increased to a maximum fine of £1,000 if the matter goes to court and subject to 3 points on their license. 

Employers could be held liable.

Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003

 

01 December 2003 The new regulations will make it unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of sexual orientation in both employment and vocational training. 

This includes direct and indirect discrimination, victimisation and harassment.

Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003

 

01 December 2003 The new regulations will make it unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of religion or belief in both employment and vocational training. 

This includes direct and indirect discrimination, victimisation and harassment.
